Smoky Maple Caramel Classic Cocktail Recipe
Our signature Smoky Maple Caramel Classic cocktail brings together the warmth of bourbon or rye whiskey, the sweetness of salted caramel and pure maple syrup, and the aromatic complexity of Angostura bitters.
This cocktail is elevated by the addition of smoke, adding a rich, multi-layered dimension that complements the caramel and maple sweetness while enhancing the herbal and smoky notes from the herb-infused salt rim.
Perfect for a cozy evening or a sophisticated gathering, this drink is sure to impress with its depth of flavor and elegant presentation.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
- 1/2 oz salted caramel syrup (You can also make your own at home, see our recipe below)
- 1/2 oz pure maple syrup (We prefer Canadian, sorry!)
- 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Orange twist and maraschino cherry for garnish
- Homemade herb-infused salt for rimming (See our seperate recipe)
- Wood chips for smoking (e.g., oak, cherry, or applewood)
Assembly:
- Preparing the Glass:
- Moisten the rim of an Old Fashioned glass with an orange wedge.
- Dip the rim into Aurumos Salt Tray, with the salt mixture, ensuring it coats the edge evenly. We typically coat only half the glass rim.
- Mixing the Cocktail:
- In a mixing glass, combine the bourbon or rye whiskey, salted caramel syrup, pure maple syrup, and Angostura bitters.
- Add ice and stir until well chilled.
- Smoking the Cocktail (Opt):
- Place a large ice cube in the prepared glass.
- Strain the mixed cocktail into the glass.
- Use a cocktail smoker with wood chips to smoke the cocktail. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for smoking, allowing the smoke to fill the glass and infuse the drink for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Serving:
- Garnish with an orange twist and a maraschino cherry.
- Serve immediately, allowing the smoky aroma to enhance the experience.
